MUIC’s Debate Club Competes in Tournament in China

Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Debate Club sent a team along with a judge to Guangzhou, China, to participate in the prestigious United Asians Debate Championships at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Rezen Select Hotel, Guangzhou, China.

Hosted by EduDrift, this international tournament took place from June 1 to 9, 2025, bringing together student debaters from top universities across Asia for a week of intense and inspiring debate.

The United Asians Debate Championships was a large-scale event that featured some of the most skilled debaters and speakers from countries including Singapore, Malaysia, India, and many more. The MUIC debaters had the unique opportunity to compete against some of Asia’s finest speakers, facing challenging motions that tackled deep philosophical questions, complex international relations, economic theories, and current events making headlines across the global stage.

The MUIC team members were able to bring out their best, especially when facing such fierce competition. They stood their ground with determination and confidence, drawing on the knowledge and experience they have built through MUIC’s debating sessions to handle the challenging motions with skill and resilience, proving their ability to compete on an international level. On the judging side, MUIC’s adjudicator made an impressive debut on the international stage, earning positive feedback and strong ratings from both debaters and fellow judges, and was entrusted with officiating some of the tournament’s most competitive rooms.

Beyond the competition itself, the tournament offered valuable cultural exchange and networking opportunities. The team and judge sent by MUIC connected with peers from across Asia, gaining insights into different debating styles and perspectives. The insights and connections gained from this tournament will undoubtedly fuel MUIC’s Debate Club in its future endeavors.
