THM Ambassadors are Trained for a Successful Career

If you are a high school student who is considering a career in the tourism and hospitality management industry, you now have an additional opportunity to learn more and acquire skills by joining the THM Ambassadors of Mahidol University International College (MUIC).

This is a group of selected students who assist in the Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Division’s activities or even organize their own events. These smart, skilled and well-motivated students are given specialized training to prepare them for their tasks.

The division announced recently that it has a new batch of THM Ambassadors for this academic year. One of their advisers, Dr. Kaewta Muangasame, said that the new batch members are now ready to perform their roles in helping raise the profile of the THM Division and its major program, Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship.

Ajarn Kaewta said that she had given them an orientation about their roles and responsibilities. She also taught them how to prepare and write a project proposal, marketing elements and content marketing. Ajarn Toby Wai Tak To handled the training in digital communication and events management. Dr. Sarinya Sungkatavat and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ka Tat Nixon Chen, on the other hand, took care of the branding courses while Dr. Rangson Chirakranon helped the new Ambassadors get more familiar with marketing campaign support.

Ms. Pusanisa Morsrijai

One of the new Ambassadors, Ms. Pusanisa Morsrijai is the Operations Manager. “I love interacting and communicating with people. Since I was young, I always found myself joining lots of activities. I apply my experience to create a better activity that suits our division,” she said.

Part of her duties is to help the division become better known by promoting it and its activities to high school students who are interested in the tourism and hospitality industry.

“As a THM Ambassador, I get the chance to meet other students and work together as a team. This experience would benefit me in my future career,” she added.

Ms. Gamonpaat Jiradidpong

Ms. Gamonpaat Jiradidpong is the Research Development Manager. “I’m in charge of gathering information and sharing them with my teammates especially with the one who is responsible for content management,” she said.

She added that, “What I love about our team is that we are all like-minded people so that when we decide on things or projects, we always have that common sense of decision making.”

Ms. Naruporn Ruangrattanatrai

Ms. Naruporn Ruangrattanatrai is assigned as the Events Project Manager. She said, “I joined the Ambassadors because I want to help the THM major become more well-known. In addition, I would also like to work as a team with my friends and my teachers in the THM major. Lastly, I would like to challenge myself and gain more experience from being a THM Ambassador.”

Ms. Phannarai Ghogar

On the other hand, Ms. Phannarai Ghogar is the Social Media Manager who is also responsible for operations management. She said that she joined the Ambassadors because of her passion for the THM industry. Being involved with sharing great things about MUIC is also another reason. “I also want to gain new experiences and perspectives, share my passion and help others find their passion for THM, improve my skills tremendously, and finally, being able to step out of my comfort zone.”

They appreciate the fact that working as a THM Ambassador would really increase their chances to get hired by good employers because of the quality training and experience they would receive. Asked what their dream job is, Pusanisa said“working in a big hotel chain is something I want to do, but owning my own hotel chain would be better.”

For Gamonpaat, she prefers “a job that is related to events like concerts or music festivals. I have a passion for music and dancing.” Likewise, Naruporn, said she alsowants to be an event manager or at least work in the event industry. Phannarai, on the other hand, is still keeping her options open. As she is both interested in hotel management and event management, she explained that she dreams of working in either industry. “I continue to pursue my dream job while keeping my passion alive in this sector,” she said.

For the THM Ambassadors, being part of this group gives them the confidence that they would be really ready for the time when they take their first steps in their career path.

For Pusanisa, being a THM ambassador “would assist me in every aspect of my dream job. The most essential skill is communication because communicating is the key to success. Moreover, management would also be another important skill that I would need for my future career. If you are able to manage your time wisely and have a strong sense of responsibility, you are on the right track.”

Ms. Gamonpaat, on the other hand, said she is able to overcome her shyness once she has joined the THM Ambassadors.“I would definitely learn more about how to socialize better with people. Working with many divisions in order to do one project also boosted my self-confidence and improved my communication skills.”

“I am sure that being a THM Ambassador will give me many opportunities to have good experiences, especially in the areas of teamwork, event management, helping others, and others,” said Naruporn.

And according to Phannarai, “Being a THM Ambassador will help bring out my true potential, and will provide me with new networking opportunities. The activities that we will do this year will help bring me out of my comfort zone.”

This group indeed presents numerous opportunities for its members: Coaching from dedicated THM Division faculty members that will equip them with various skills and also bolster their self-confidence. The tasks and responsibilities assigned to the THM Ambassadors  will also provide them with the much-needed experience that would be valuable to them in their future careers.
