The participants at the 13th Executive Study Week organized by Mahidol University International College (MUIC) in collaboration with Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) in Switzerland, visited Thai Wah Public Co. headquarters office in Bangkok on February 27, 2025. The event was part of a day dedicated to know about “Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Asia,” from a business perspective.

The day started with an introductory lecture delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Isabel Pereira Rodrigues from MUIC, highlighting how “Sustainability in Business” is linked to the frameworks of “Triple Bottom Line,” “ESG,” “Environmental issues” and “Corporate Social Responsibility.” For each of these frameworks, the lecturer provided several examples of initiatives done by organizations in Thailand and Asia-Pacific. The interactive lecture ended by sharing the most recent data about the SDG Progress in the Asia-Pacific region, emphasizing areas of best performance as well as areas in which further improvements are needed.

After such introduction, the participants went to visit Thai Wah Public Co.’s (TWPC) headquarters office in Sathorn District, Bangkok, where they were warmly welcomed by Khun Ho Ren Hua, the CEO of TWPC. The visit continued with a series of interactive presentations and workshop activities, covering different aspects of the TWPC agri-food business in Southeast Asia.

First, Ms. Duangkamon Jirapornkasemsuk, Senior Director and Head of Huma Resources, presented an overview of the company. Second, Ms. Hataikan Kamolsirisakul, Head of Strategy and New Business Group, introduced the main business areas of the company and how they are collaborating with customers for creating long-term value solutions. Then, the participants had the chance to know more about each of the TWPC product lines – starch, food, and bioplastics –talking with the coordinators of each of them and having access to a dedicated tasting exhibition. The end of the visit culminated with a discussion led by Ms. Kamonchanok Areerat, Senior Manager for Sustainability and Innovation, and Ms. Sasinee Pansailom, Head of the Group Sustainability Section, about further sustainability developments in the business of TWPC and a brainstorming activity about the role and expectations of key stakeholders.

Overall, it was a great opportunity for MUIC and HSLU participants to know first-hand and in such an engaging way, about Thai businesses and, in particular, about TWPC agribusinesses and bioplastics. All the participants were much positively impressed to see the great commitment of Thai businesses in delivering sustainable products and services.

MUIC expresses its deep appreciation of all the distinguished speakers from Thai Wah Public Co. for this exceptional learning opportunity, and look forward to future opportunities of collaborative learning.
