A delegation of executives from Mahidol University International College (MUIC) embarked on a strategic visit to three of Shanghai’s most prestigious institutions—Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS), East China Normal University (ECNU), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU)—from May 11 to 15, 2025. The visit aimed to foster academic partnerships, promote international mobility, and explore the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education.

At Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS), discussions centered on potential student and staff exchange programs, mutual inbound and outbound opportunities, and the application of AI in teaching, learning, and administration. MUIC executives were warmly welcomed by the ZIBS leadership team and gained valuable insights into how AI is being harnessed to enhance academic engagement and digital campus operations.

The visit to East China Normal University (ECNU) included a tour of the Institute of AI Education and a comprehensive dialogue on future collaboration. Both institutions expressed keen interest in developing joint initiatives that support student mobility and international program development. Presentations highlighted ECNU’s vision for internationalization and its innovative approach to AI-integrated education.

On the third day, the delegation visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), where fruitful conversations were held on developing bilateral academic programs, supporting student career development through co-curricular activities, and using AI to improve both classroom learning and university operations. MUIC representatives were particularly impressed by SJTU’s emphasis on student creativity and digital infrastructure.

The final day of the visit included a stop at Huawei’s Liangiu Lake R&D Center, where the team experienced firsthand how one of the world’s leading technology companies fosters innovation. This visit provided further inspiration for how MUIC might integrate emerging technologies into its own curriculum and campus development.

This successful trip marks an important step forward in MUIC’s strategic plan to expand its global footprint, drive innovation in teaching and learning, and strengthen its position as a forward-thinking international institution.
