MUIC Plays Host to “Forum on Gender, Health and Science R&D”

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) served as a co-organizer and one of the hosts in the “Forum on Gender, Health and Science R&D” held on February 27, 2024.

Part of the 20th Anniversary celebration of the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi), a not-for-profit organization that has been advocating for neglected populations and developing lifesaving and affordable treatments, the event was held simultaneously in Malaysia and Thailand via in-person, virtual and hybrid platforms.

In MUIC, one of the hybrid components of the event was held at the Screening Room in Aditayathorn Building which was attended by lecturers and students.

Plenary Session 4: “Women in Science and Their Contributions” was held in the Screening Room with the session chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue S. Dhirathiti, VP for International Relations and Corporate Communications, Mahidol University, joined onstage by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Walasinee Sakcamduang, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahidol University.

The other sessions’ topics were: “Exploring Gender-specific Health Challenges on Diseases,” “Gender-inclusive Health Care,” and “Clinical Trial and Gender – Closing the Gender Gap in Clinical Trials.”
