MUIC Students Elect New Batch of SMO Leaders

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) held the election for the new batch of Student Association (also known for its Thai acronym, SMO) officers for Academic Year 2023-2024 on July 3, 2023.

Six teams competed with each other during the intense campaign period for the opportunity to lead and represent MUIC students with each team presenting their policies and visions for a brighter future. Team SMOjojojo won with 199 votes (or 20.20% of the total votes cast by 985 students).

The other competing teams and the votes that they had received are as follows:

SMObara: 189 votes (19.19%)

SMORCA: 158 votes (16.04%)

SMOcado: 151 votes (15.33%)

SMOcelot: 137 votes (13.91%)

SMORN: 67 votes (6.80%)

No vote: 38 votes (3.86%)

Invalid vote: 34 votes (3.45%)

Total vote: 985 students.

On June 27, 2023, the candidates had the chance to showcase their ideas and aspirations during a policy speech event. Each team delivered impassioned speeches, highlighting their goals and strategies for improving academics, enhancing student welfare, and promoting a sense of community on campus.

As the campaign period concluded, MUIC students headed to the polling stations on July 3 to cast their votes. With an overwhelming display of engagement and enthusiasm, the student body demonstrated their commitment to shaping the direction of their college experience.

After a rigorous counting process, the election committee announced the winners on July 4, 2023.
