Osaka University Visits MUIC for Future Joint Projects

Representatives of Osaka University visited Mahidol University International College (MUIC) on August 15, 2023 to discuss possible collaborative activities between the two institutions.

Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, MD, MUIC Dean, along with MUIC executives and lecturers, welcomed Prof. Fujiyama Kazuhito, Director of the International Center for Biotechnology, as well as Prof. Kato Hitoshi, Director, and Assoc. Prof. Manami Fujihira of the Center for Japanese Language and Culture at Aditayathorn Building. 

During the meeting, the potential joint projects discussed included the possibility of MUIC students to conduct research projects at Osaka University next year and the prospect of including students from Osaka University International College to participate in the next Designing Health Innovation Competition organized by MUIC. Prof. Fujiyama Kazuhito also gave a presentation to MUIC students to provide them with an overview of the current research projects being conducted at Osaka University’s International Center for Biotechnology. There were 17 MUIC students from the biological science, food science and chemistry majors who joined the session. 

The meeting between Prof. Kato Hitoshi, Director of the Center for Japanese Language and Culture, his colleague Assoc. Prof. Manami Fujihira, and Dr. Matthew Robert Ferguson, Chair of MUIC’s Humanities and Language Division, served as an introductory meeting to get to know each other and to explore potential projects between the two institutions in the future.

The Osaka University representatives also shared information about the exchange programs that they currently have with Mahidol University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts.
