The Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Division has announced recently the formation of its third batch of THM Ambassadors, in this case, five students selected and trained by several THM Division faculty members to represent the division, promote its major program (Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship) and help tighten the bond between its students.
To prepare them for this year’s tasks, faculty members led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kaewta Muangasame, who is also the THM Ambassadors’ advisor, made sure they receive hands-on training. One of these was including them in the launching of her project, Accessible Wellness Tourism. Dr. Sarinya Sungkatavat coached them on how to organize this event while Ajarn Toby Wai Tak To trained them on how to perform public relations tasks. Other THM ajarns also pitched in to assist the students in planning for content marketing for the THM Division’s social media platforms.
Earlier, Ajarn Kaewta also mobilized the new THM Ambassadors to roadshows promoting MUIC in general and the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship program in particular in several high schools during the 2nd Trimester. She expressed confidence that the students are now more than able to support the THM Division.
Ms. Prescilla Wissink, a 3rd Year student, is the THM Ambassadors’ operations manager. She joined the team because “I want to help promote the THM major so that more students will enroll.”
Asked what she loves about being a THM Ambassador, Prescilla said “it is getting to create new ideas and bring them out. Before becoming a THM Ambassador, I can only imagine the things that I can contribute to improve but now I have the opportunity to turn my ideas into reality.”
The THM Ambassadors’ social media manager, Mr. Patipol Nampradit, is a senior student who considers being part of the team “an excellent opportunity to give back to the THM community since my time in the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship program has been overwhelmingly rewarding. My responsibilities in the group role enable me to actively promote our program and invite new students to join our amazing THM community and become a better version of themselves, just as I have.”
A junior student, Ms. Supinya Promin, serves as the research and development manager. “I believe that college life is not just about classroom studies. There are many activities outside the classroom where we also learn a lot of lessons. I found out that working with other fellow members who have similar life goals makes my duties as an Ambassador even more interesting.”
Even though Ms. Bhrombhorn Araam-arunsri, another junior student, is part of the operations staff, each THM Ambassador is given specific leadership responsibilities in the group’s numerous projects this year. “We have different project heads. For example, I am the head of the THM Open House event while my friend is responsible for the THM Camp.”
Mr. Satjapoom Chansirichok, who is in his third year, is the team’s graphic designer. He said he feels privileged to have the opportunity to make connections with a lot of people from different fields thanks to THM Ambassador activities. “Being a THM Ambassador has given me more confidence when interacting with other people. It also enhances my intellect and improves my communication skills,” he said.
The five new THM Ambassadors also shared their thoughts on how being part of the team would be helpful to their career in the future.
For Prescilla, it gives her “practical skills in organizing and communicating. Having these skills is important for my future job and correctly performing my duties now will prepare me well for my career.”
Patipol, on the other hand, is confident that “accumulating an abundant amount of practical experience as a THM Ambassador would greatly enhance my prospects for success in my future career.”
Aiming to be an entrepreneur someday, Supinya said she looks forward to “gaining many connections with many incredible people in each project that we would undertake.”
Bhrombhorn agrees with Supinya, adding that “establishing connections is one of the important things you have to accomplish while you’re still in university” as it would later help you in your career. In the meantime, she is happy to work with “wonderful people who share the same interests.”
Satjapoom dreams of putting up a small wellness resort someday. To make it successful, he says that the soft skills that he would hone as a THM Ambassador, “including interpersonal, management, and problem-solving skills, would be very valuable.”
This new batch of THM Ambassadors has hit the ground running—getting involved in THM Division and MUIC activities as soon as they had their initial training. They are a credit to their program and we can only wish them the best as they continue with their work this year.
