The Dance Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) held an exciting and energetic dance workshop entitled, “Intermediate Hip-hop-Afro Dance Workshop” that brought students together to explore the styles of these two dance styles on February 4-5, 10, and 24, 2025 at Room 2302, MUIC Building 1.

The workshop welcomed around 30 participants who shared a common passion for dance and self-expression. To facilitate the session, the club invited Mr. Justin Hsu, a professional dance instructor and MUIC studentwho brought not only his knowledge and skills but also a fun and supportive attitude that brightened the sessions’ atmosphere.

The workshop began with a warm-up to get everyone ready, followed by a breakdown of techniques and choreography that combined the rhythmic grooves of Afro with the sharp, expressive moves of hip-hop. The instructor guided everyone step-by-step, making the class accessible for all levels, from beginners to more experienced dancers. Throughout the session, participants were encouraged to express themselves, feel the music, and push past their comfort zones.

The participants had a great time as the energy in the room was high, with lots of laughter, cheering, and mutual support among themselves. Many students expressed how much they enjoyed learning new styles and how the workshop helped boost their confidence in dancing. It was not only a space to improve technical skills but also an opportunity to connect with others who share the same interests.

This workshop was part of the dance club’s ongoing mission to create a welcoming and inspiring space for students to grow, explore different dance cultures, and simply enjoy the art of graceful movement. Club officers said they are grateful for the strong turnout and positive feedback and expressed hope that they can continue organizing similar events that bring together creativity, culture, and community through dance.
