Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Debate Club participated in the prestigious Thailand Debate Open (TDO), one of the most competitive debating tournaments in the region. Held at Panyarat High School Bangkok from February 21 to 24, 2025, the tournament attracted top university debaters from Thailand and beyond, providing a platform for intellectual exchange and high-level debate.

The MUIC Debate Club sent multiple teams, all of whom demonstrated strong critical thinking, argumentation, and public speaking skills. Throughout the preliminary rounds, MUIC’s debaters engaged in intense motions covering global politics, economics, philosophy, and social justice.

Several MUIC teams were able to secure multiple victories throughout the rounds, showcasing their ability to navigate complex topics with strategic reasoning and persuasive delivery. MUIC Caramel Crusaders, led by Ibrahim Dawoodjee, Rahul Yadav and Thalin Nu Nu Htun, were able to secure a spot in advancing into the elimination rounds.

Beyond the competition, TDO offered valuable networking opportunities, allowing our members to engage with fellow debaters, experienced adjudicators, and alumni. Participating in TDO 2025 reinforced MUIC Debate Club’s reputation as a strong contender in the debating circuit. The experience not only sharpened the club members’ skills but also fostered camaraderie and a passion for intellectual discourse. Club officers said they look forward to future tournaments and continuing to excel on the debate stage.
