MUIC and Kyung Hee University Hold THM Virtual Program in Thailand

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) teamed up with Kyung Hee University (KHU) of South Korea in a virtual program on the theme “Tourism Hospitality Management 2021 in Thailand” from August 2 to 20, 2021.

Eleven students from KHU and four from MUIC participated in this online event organized by MUIC’s Project Development Unit (PDU), Tourism and Hospitality Management Division (THM), Business Administration Division (BA) and Humanities and Language Division (HLD).

The four MUIC students were given academic roles under Dr. Laddawan Jianvittayakit, the Program Director of THM Division.

There were also six guest speakers from the tourism industry: the vice president of Cape Dara Resort in Pattaya; the general manager of Saii Phi Phi Island Village; a student pilot from Thai Lion Air; the owner of Baansahai Co. Ltd.; a tour guide from Exo Travel; and the owner and founder of Plean Yod Tarn coconut organic farm. All of them shared information, their work experiences, and solutions to business problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The online event also featured performances by professionals in Thai folk dance, Muay Thai boxing and Thai cooking.

At the end of the program’s 21 days of extensive learning, the PDU said Korean and Thai students learned much knowledge about the tourism industry along with important skills like business analysis and formulation of business plans.

The project aims to support educational opportunities for under-resourced schools in provincial areas by donating lecture chairs and office equipment to enhance teaching and learning activities.
