ABOUT US

HSBC Business Case Competition is a prestigious business case competition sponsored by HSBC in partnership with Mahidol University International College. On an invitation basis, undergraduate students across six universities in Thailand will be competing. Teams of four will showcase their knowledge and skills in strategic thinking to analyze real-life business cases. 

It is now the time to challenge yourselves with the most distinguished business case competition among undergraduates from esteemed universities.

Event 1: HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition On Tour Session
Date: Monday, 14 March 2022   Time: 17.15-18.15 (1 hour) Location: ZOOM Meeting  Purpose: To introduce HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition to potential participants as well as introduce a career in HSBC Thailand
Event 2: HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition Training Day

Date: Friday, 25 March 2022 

Time: 18.00-19.30 (1.5 hours) 

Location: ZOOM Meeting 

Purpose: A workshop organized by MUIC Case Club with 2 guest speakers invited to train the participants on case cracking. 

Event 3: HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition Networking Session
Date: Wednesday, 20 April 2022 Duration: 18.00-19.30 (1.5 hours) Location: ZOOM Meeting  Purpose: To allow participants to network with each other through online activities
Event 4: HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition ROUND 1
Date: Thursday, 21 April 2022 Time: 8.30- 12.35 Location: ZOOM Meeting  Purpose: The 24 invited teams will compete for points in the first round of HSBC Case Competition
Event 5: HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition ROUND 2
Date: Friday, 22 April 2022 Time: 8.30- 12.35 Location: ZOOM Meeting  Purpose: The 24 invited teams will compete for points in the second round of HSBC Case Competition
Event 6: HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition FINAL ROUND
Date: Saturday, 23 April 2022 Time: 8.30- 12.40 Location: Hybrid, HSBC Thailand Headquarters Purpose: Top 4 competing teams will compete for their place in the Top 4. The winning team will be Thailand’s representative in the HSBC International Case Competition.

  • Each team will consist of four students and a coach.
  • All participants must be full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the same participating university in the competition year.
  • Each participant must not be a member of more than one team.
  • Students who have participated in the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition are not eligible to compete in the HSBC Thailand Business Case Competition 2021 by Mahidol University International College
This competition is invite-only. Teams representing the invited universities will be chosen by their own faculty. ‘Participants Registration Form’ will be directly provided by their university to the chosen representative team(s)
Case format
The Winning Team wins up to 120,000 Baht with Trophy and Certificate. They will represent Thailand at the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2022 (24 May-2 June)

Case Format

  • The first case will be distributed on Wednesday, 20 April 2022 for the teams via email. The teams will have only six (6) hours to prepare for the case to be presented the following day.
  • All 24 teams will be randomly placed into 6 divisions, each with 4 time slots. The slots and divisions will be drawn on the presentation day itself on Thursday, 21 April 2022.
  • The slots will be pre-determined by the organising committee via random draws. The slots will be announced on the presentation day in the main session. 
  • Teams will present their TeamName_Round#.pdf presentation file via ZOOM meeting. Further modifications are NOT ALLOWED.
  • Teams are expected to be present at the Main Session 5 Minutes before the presentation time. Presentation will start at the exact time scheduled. No additional time will be provided for late arrival. Teams will NOT be allowed to enter the presentation room 10 minutes after the presentation time has started.
  • Each team is required to deliver a 20 minute presentation followed by a 10 minute Q&A session by the judges, a 5-minute deliberation by the judges, and lastly a 5-minute feedback given by the judges.
  • After Round 1, all teams will advance to Round 2.
  • A new case will be distributed on Thursday, 21 April 2022 for the teams via email. The teams will have only six (6) hours to prepare for the case to be presented the following day.
  • All 24 teams will again be randomly placed into 6 divisions, via an online live slots drawing session. The slots and divisions will be drawn on the presentation day itself on Friday, 22 April 2022.
  • The slots will be pre-determined by the organising committee via random draws. The slots will be announced on the presentation day in the main session. 
  • Teams will present their TeamName_Round#.pdf presentation file, to the committee, via ZOOM meeting. Further modifications are NOT ALLOWED.
  • Teams will present their TeamName_Round#.pdf presentation file via ZOOM meeting. Further modifications are NOT ALLOWED.
  • Teams are expected to be present at the Main Session 5 Minutes before the presentation time. Presentation will start at the exact time scheduled. No additional time will be provided for late arrival. Teams will NOT be allowed to enter the presentation room 10 minutes after the presentation time has started.

  • After Round 2, only the Top 4 finalists with the highest points will proceed to the Final Round
  • A new case will be distributed on Friday, 22 April 2022 for the finalist teams via email. The teams will have only six (6) hours to prepare for the case to be presented the following day
  • Four (4) finalist teams with the highest cumulative scores from the previous round will proceed to the Finals Round.
  • Each of the four (4) finalists will receive the final case to crack on Friday, 22 April 2022
  • Teams will be given a new case with six (6) hours to crack the case and submit their compiled slide deck. See the specifications below.
  • Teams are expected to be present at the Main Session 5 Minutes before the presentation time. Presentation will start at the exact time scheduled. No additional time will be provided for late arrival. Teams will NOT be allowed to enter the presentation room 10 minutes after the presentation time has started.
  • Each team is required to deliver a 20 minute presentation followed by a 15 minute Q&A session by the judges, a 5-minute deliberation by the judges, and lastly a 5-minute feedback given by the judges.
  • The competing teams that have yet to present will not be in the room when other teams are presenting. 
  • On the day of the final round, any team presenting with less than 3 members, regardless of any reason given for the absence of members, shall be disqualified.
