On the eve of Valentine’s Day (February 13, 2025), the Film Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) came up with an evening full of romantic movie classics, curated to contribute to the Valentine’s Day atmosphere. Taking place in the comfy space of the Spectrum Screening Room at the 5th Floor of Aditayathorn Building, two romantic films were screened, both having different and unique flavors of love!

The first film was 10 Things I Hate About You directed by Gil Junger and released back in 1999. The film was shown from 2:30 to 4:00 pm, a perfect time for a breezy, at-ease, and comedic feeling, much like the film itself!

10 Things I Hate About You was then immediately followed by another screening from 4:05 to 6:00 pm. As the sky continues to darken and the anticipation for a starry field came on, the Film Club put on La La Land directed by Damien Chazelle and released in 2016. The melancholic, dramatic, and hopeful musical took audiences on a rollercoaster of emotions in a span of almost two hours, with many iconic and memorable songs providing the romantic mood in the Oscar-nominated picture.

The Film Club also gave out souvenir tickets, customized to fit the theme of the event and the movie to those participants who pre-registered their seats for the screening event. Whether they came with their romantic partners, friends, or even by themselves, the Film Club said it hopes that the event made their Valentine’s evening a little more special.

There were 41 students who attended the screening event.
