The 2nd MUIC Winter Short Study Program to Japan held on December 13 – 23, 2025, provided a wonderful opportunity to get immersed in Japanese culture.

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dale Alan Konstanz, Associate Dean for International Affairs, and Ms. Worada Apirat, Project Development Unit Coordinator, and in collaboration with Chiba University, the program brought together a vibrant group of 15 students majoring in a variety of disciplines.

Over the course of the credit-bearing program, students experienced Japanese design, traditional culture, and contemporary society up close through a rich mix of academic learning and hands-on activities.

Lectures focused on everything from Japanese logos and anime to sustainability and economics. Other highlights included learning the basics of Japanese language, a futomaki cooking lesson, company visits, as well as time spent in Tokyo and Kamakura exploring the local culture.

Beyond the classroom, the program was defined by strong camaraderie and shared adventures – discovering new places, ideas, and perspectives together.
