MUIC Students Pour Creativity into Mug Painting Contest

The Ground Floor of the Aditayathorn Building was buzzing with artistic energy on November 27, 2025, as the Mahidol University International College (MUIC) Art Club hosted its highly anticipated “Mug Painting Competition.”

The event, which ran from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., drew a crowd of 49 student artists from various academic disciplines. Organized as a final creative event for the semester, the competition aimed to foster a sense of community and increase engagement with the club.

Participants were provided with ceramic mugs, palettes, and paints to bring the competition’s theme, “Winter Wonderland,” to life. As students worked, the space transformed into a pop-up studio filled with focused creativity and camaraderie. Upon completion, each artist was able to take their personalized mug home as a lasting souvenir of the day.

“The activity was designed to increase the club’s exposure and encourage wider participation from the student body,” an Art Club representative noted. “It also enhances our visibility, helps attract potential new members, and gives us completed artworks that can be preserved for future display.”

A panel of judges, comprising an executive member and other representatives from the MUIC Art Club, evaluated the submissions. The winning creations were celebrated on the club’s official social media platforms, with the top artists receiving rainbow clay sets as prizes.

The competition concluded by recognizing three students for their outstanding work:

  • Art Club’s Team Pick: Nathalie Jongjaroonkiat, a 2nd Year Computer Science student
  • Most Artistic: Krittiya Sagaekhao, a 4th Year Biological Science student
  • Popular Vote: Luiyanjia Akkhakan, a 2nd Year Biological Science student
