MUIC’s Debate Dragons Shine at EU-TH National Debating Championship

In a thrilling display of wit and eloquence, the Mahidol University International College (MUIC) Debate Dragons recently participated in the prestigious European Union Thailand National Debating Championship organized by Chulalongkorn University. The tournament, held on January 27-30, 2024, saw the MUIC Debate Dragons emerge victorious, securing 2nd Place for Team 1 and garnering an impressive array of speaker awards.

Team 1, composed of Mr. Ibrahim Dawoodjee, Mr. Patsha Ha and Ms. Krittiya Sagaekhao, demonstrated their prowess in argumentation and critical thinking throughout the competition. Their remarkable performance earned them the coveted 2nd Place position, reflecting the rigorous training and dedication of the MUIC Debate Dragons.

Not only did the team secure a commendable overall standing, but they also distinguished themselves individually, with Team 1 earning a total of six speaker awards. These accolades recognize the top-performing individual debaters, showcasing the MUIC Debate Dragons' depth of talent and intellectual acumen.

Meanwhile, Team 2, composed of Mr. Sumit Sachdev, Mr. Aditya Dutta and Mr. Alvaro Elizaga, demonstrated its mettle by securing two speaker awards and a reserve break, further solidifying MUIC's reputation as a formidable force in the debating arena. The reserve break is a testament to the team's resilience and strategic thinking, positioning them as potential contenders for future championships.

As MUIC continues to make waves in the debating circuit, the university community eagerly anticipates future achievements and looks forward to the Debate Dragons' continued success on both national and international stages.
