To help new members to develop their skills in drafting UN-style resolutions, Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Model United Nations Club (MUN) hosted “MUNtroduction: Resolution Writing” on October 29, 2025 at Room A420, Aditayathorn Building.
The event was led by the club’s Academic Team members, who guided the 18 participants through the key components of a resolution — from crafting strong preambulatory clauses to writing clear and actionable operative clauses.
After the briefing, participants had the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice through an interactive simulation. They took part in an unmoderated caucus focused on the South China Sea issue, one of today’s most pressing geopolitical challenges. Delegates discussed possible solutions, formed blocs based on shared interests, and collaboratively drafted their own resolutions addressing maritime security, territorial disputes, and regional cooperation.
The atmosphere was both dynamic and collaborative, with participants actively engaging in debate and negotiation. Afterwards, many participants said that the activity helped them better understand how resolutions are created and how diplomacy functions within the framework of the United Nations.
Overall, “MUNtroduction: Resolution Writing” was a successful event that not only strengthened participants’ confidence in research and public speaking but also enhanced their teamwork and critical thinking skills. The session marked an important step for new members to prepare for future Model UN conferences, setting a strong foundation for the club’s upcoming academic term.
