A Cut Above the Rest: Crafting Dreams into Bespoke Reality with Selvedgework

Some people follow fashion trends, but Mr. Vitchapong "Boom" Hutasuwan preferred to cut his own pattern. What began nearly 15 years ago as a simple college catalog has seamlessly woven itself into Selvedgework—a premier denim and art atelier where individuality is tailored down to the very last thread.

As a Marketing student of Mahidol University International College (MUIC)—graduating in 2013—with a childhood passion for art, music, and design, Boom noticed a distinct tear in the fashion market: off-the-rack jeans lacked personal connection. Inspired to fill that void, he set out to craft bespoke garments that allow wearers to express their true character.

"Denim felt like the perfect medium because it's one of the few garments that becomes more beautiful with time," Boom shares. "It fades, develops character, and tells the story of the person wearing it."

Transforming a college project into a thriving brand takes more than luck—it requires tight craftsmanship and relentless drive. Over the years, Selvedgework has expanded beyond custom handcrafted jeans into high-profile artistic collaborations with luxury titans like BMW and Audi. How does the CEO keep his creative spark from fraying? By constantly pushing the boundaries of his craft and embracing new challenges.

"What brings me back is the excitement of creating something new," Boom explains. "Watching something that once existed only in my imagination come to life—and seeing people genuinely appreciate it—is incredibly fulfilling."

By stitching together artistic vision with business acumen, Boom proves that true success is never mass-produced; it is meticulously handcrafted.

For aspiring dreamers, his journey offers a blueprint stitched to perfection. Keep your dreams alive, dare to think creatively, and put in the hard work to make your vision fit your reality. Success isn't handed to you on a rack—you have to tailor it yourself.

Swimming, Cycling, and Running Toward a Quiet Mind

On August 22, 2026, I completed my first IRONMAN triathlon in Tallinn, Estonia: a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km bike ride, and a 42.2 km marathon. It took me 11 hours and 35 minutes. While one of the perks of finishing an IRONMAN is the right to brag, that isn’t the point of this post. The point is that MUIC supported me in achieving this personal goal through the 40th Anniversary Academic Changemakers Scholarship.
