FAA and University of Arts London’s Joint AR Project

By Dr. Millicent Young

A group of Animation and Film Minor students enrolled in the Storytelling by Design course were invited to work on a collaborative piece of augmented reality project with students from University of Arts London, London College of Communication’s MA Animation program under the AniCodex project led by Ms. Kim Noce.

Ms. Noce is the MA Course leader and an animation and multimedia practitioner who will be coming to Mahidol University International College (MUIC) this summer to run a special course in Short Film Production.

There are four posters addressing social justice and climate action placed strategically around the canteen and ground floor of Aditayathorn Building. Each poster (designed by CDP students in collaboration with the MA students) is a trigger image for augmented reality using the ARTIVIVE App.

The four animations addressed topics as follows:

  • Climate change in terms of air pollution around the world (located in the smoking corner outside the building near the car park exit)
  • Climate change regarding the deforestation in the world and subsequent sea level rising (located in the water feature in the canteen)
  • Social Injustice addressing the bullying of LGBTQ persons through verbal joking that affects people's mental health (located by the service lift)
  • Social Justice regarding the suppression of creativity and personal voice (located at the front entrance to Aditayathorn Building)
