On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the Spectrum Screening Space in Aditayathorn Building was filled with faculty, students, and alumni eager to hear from Communication Design Program (CDP) alumna Ms. Mint Tantisuwanna. Now a Type Designer and Lettering Artist at Typoteque in the Netherlands, Mint shared insights into her creative journey, from her time in CDP to her current role in the global type design industry.

During the talk, Mint reflected on how her CDP education laid the foundation for her passion for typography and lettering. She discussed the challenges and opportunities she encountered along the way, including her transition from doing student projects to creating professional type design. Attendees gained valuable perspectives on the technical and conceptual aspects of type creation, as well as the importance of cultural and linguistic considerations in contemporary typography.

Mint also shared her experience working at Typoteque, a renowned type foundry known for its innovative and multilingual typefaces. She offered a behind-the-scenes look at the process of designing type, from research and sketching to digital refinement and final production. Her talk highlighted the importance of persistence, experimentation, and adaptability in the ever-evolving world of design.

The event was an inspiring occasion for current students, who had the opportunity to engage with Mint and gain insights into potential career paths in typography and lettering.
