Mahidol University International College (MUIC) welcomed a delegation from Japan’s Osaka University on October 21, 2026, marking a significant milestone in expanding cross-cultural education and international student mobility.
Hosted by the Foreign Language Program of MUIC’s Humanities and Languages Division (HLD), the visit centered on an orientation for the upcoming Short-term Program in Japanese Language and Culture, set to launch in Spring 2027.
The Osaka University delegation featured key academic representatives, including Specially Appointed Prof. Hitoshi Katou, Assoc. Prof. Manami Fujihira, and Specially Appointed Asst. Prof. Sathida Kanjamapornkul.
They were greeted by MUIC’s Foreign Language Program leadership, faculty and staff members, led by Mr. Jan Stevener, Program Director.
Scheduled to run from April to August 2027, the immersion program offers MUIC students a structured pathway to enhance their Japanese linguistic fluency while developing a nuanced understanding of contemporary and traditional Japanese culture through firsthand study in Japan.
The collaborative orientation highlighted both institutions' commitment to bilateral academic exchange, language acquisition, and global citizenship. By hosting delegates from Osaka University, MUIC continues to strengthen its internationalization strategy, equipping students with real-world cross-cultural competencies ahead of their study-abroad experience.
