Ten students from Mahidol University International College’s Model United Nations Club (MUICMUN) attended the 1st National Convening in Thailand of AI Ready ASEAN on October 14, 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangkok, Thailand.

The National Convening is a flagship event under the AI Ready ASEAN initiative of the ASEAN Foundation with the support of Google.org. As the national implementing partner for Thailand and the Philippines, AYO is committed to fostering inclusive dialogue, youth engagement, and multisectoral collaboration to promote AI literacy and responsible digital transformation across the region.

The event started off with opening remarks from Dr. Piti Srisangnam, Executive Director, ASEAN Foundation; the Director-General of the Ministry of Education; the Director-General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs; HE Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Deputy Permanent Secretary, and a representative from both Google.org and the ASEAN Secretariat.

It was then followed by a panel discussion on the progress report on AI Ready ASEAN insight by local implementation partners. Both of these sessions provided insight into how AI is already integrated into ASEAN member states, along with details on ethical usage, and its current impact.

In the afternoon session, 10 participants, mostly youths from all over Thailand, joined the Pilot Training & Voices Sharing showcase, where youths had the opportunity to voice their opinion and wishes for the usage of AI in the future, while also reflecting on the past and the present.
