It is necessary to do a health checkup every once in a while. Undergoing health checkup not only lets us know our current height and weight, body mass, strength and more but it can let us know how well we are and what issues we may or may not have. That’s why the MUIC Student Association (SMO Som-O) in collaboration with students of Mahidol University College of Sports Science and Technology (MUSS) hosted a health checkup event for Mahidol University International College (MUIC) students.

SMO Som-O with help from MUIC’s Student Affairs Office and the students of MUSS, organized a Health Week for MUIC on May 20, 2025 at the Ground Floor of Aditayathorn Building.

Participants joined a range of services–separated into zones–to evaluate one’s physical health and well-being ranging from blood pressure checks, BMI assessments, flexibility, heart strength and more, while also having consultations with the students of MUSS. The event highlighted the importance of regular health monitoring and a commitment to fostering a healthy and supportive learning environment.

The opening remarks of Ms. Wimonsiri Hemtanon, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, focused on the importance of looking after one’s health. SMO Som-O also presented a live musical performance which attracted many participants. The student officers also put up exhibition boards asking students different questions on their views on vaping; explaining misconceptions on e-cigarettes and detailing its dangers to one’s health. The exhibition panels remained in place for the entire week so that students can read them and learn more about vapes.

Over a hundred people turned up and underwent medical checkup, sought advice from the medical students and asked for more information on vaping. The health checkup reflected MUIC’s dedication to ensure the healthy lives and well-being of members of its community, while promoting SDG3 (UN Sustainable Development Goal regarding Good Health and Wellbeing). SMO Som-O expressed its thanks to its partners at MUSS for joining the event and sharing information, advice and assurance about one’s health.
