Democracy was in full swing at MUIC as students cast their ballots to elect the new Student Association (SMO) committee for Academic Year 2026–2027. Organized by the outgoing Student Association, the election saw three candidate teams—Team 1 (SMOTOPIA), Team 2 (SMOJI), and Team 3 (SMOZAA)—compete for the opportunity to represent the student body.

The campaign trail ran from June 8 to 29, 2026, bringing high energy and approachable fun to campus. Teams engaged voters through creative games, including mascot coloring contests, ring toss, and spot-the-difference challenges. On June 30, candidates faced the spotlight during Policy Speech Day, presenting their platforms in a rigorous Q&A session with the outgoing committee followed by a lively candidate debate.

Voting took place on July 1 and 2, with 723 students participating in the official count. Victory ultimately went to Team 3, SMOZAA, which secured 41.63% of the total votes. The team now steps into leadership, ready to champion student voices for the upcoming year.
