Virtual Thai Boxing Session for MUIC’s Partner Universities

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) organized a virtual Thai boxing session exclusively for its partner universities on March 11, 2022.

This Thai boxing session had a special guest, Mr. Somneuk Traisutti, a professional Thai boxer, along with MUIC students, Ms. Rangsimatiti Saichompoo and Mr. Florian Haegele, an exchange student from Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (Mosbach) in Germany, who acted as student assistants during the session. Several Thai boxing steps were demonstrated for all participants coming from Japan, Singapore and South Korea. 

Firstly, the show of pre-fight dance ritual known as “Wai Kru Ram Muay.” Secondly, a demonstration of sample fight moves and lastly, some Thai martial arts moves that participants can adapt in their daily life. This was the opportunity for participants to learn more about Muay Thai and Thai martial arts.

Participants said they enjoyed this activity organized by the Project Development Unit because of the basic Thai boxing steps they learned from the professional Thai boxer.
