As the 3rd Trimester rolled around the corner at Mahidol University International College (MUIC), so did the Club Expo hosted by SMO Som-O (Student Association) under the title “Som-O in the Jungle” immersing students in a vibrant jungle-themed experience.

Held on May 6-7, 2025 at the Exhibition Hall A235 in Aditayathorn Building, the event had over 20 clubs participating, with each one creatively interpreting the event’s theme while showcasing what each of them has to offer the prospective members, what they stand for and what they do, attracting as many as 560 students who either marked their calendars for the clubs’ activities or even joining the club of their interest.

During the 2-day event, several clubs gave presentations to give the attendees an idea what their usual club activities are. The Music Club had a cozy and calm performance by Mr. Tarid Netcharatsaeng and his guitar, playing peaceful and beautiful melodies to upbeat and exhilarating tunes. The Dance Club, on the other hand, gave several dance numbers which embodied the mysteriousness and sense of adventure in the jungle, attracting a large group of audience. Finally adding to the dynamic atmosphere, the Debate Club organized a live debate entitled, "This house, as Tarzan, would stay in the jungle rather than join civilization," encouraging critical thinking and lively discussion among participants.

As for SMO Som-O, its officers arranged for a lucky draw—the biggest in this academic year with prizes ranging from snacks and sweets to a small oven and an electric fan. Many students came in to see whether they have a chance to win one of the prizes. SMO Som-O also provided nostalgic Thai popsicles with many soda flavors to choose from, all for free.

The Club Expo, a cherished activity that every club looks forward to, provided an engaging platform for students to explore extracurricular opportunities, to be introduced and to foster a sense of community through each and every club on display while giving them an opportunity to express their unique identity to newcomers, and encouraging active participation in campus life.

As the 2-day event came to a close, as the voices of chattering grew quieter, as people started leaving for home, SMO Som-O’s officers were thankful to every club and were filled with gratitude for organizing Club Expo together in the past three trimesters. This may be the last Club Expo to be organized by SMO Som-O but it is not the end of Club Expo as it continues to symbolize the vibrant student spirit that thrives within MUIC's diverse and dynamic community.  The officers expressed eagerness for the ultimate event from SMO Som-O for the academic year as they wait for the new set of Student Association officers to be chosen in the next election.
