The Preparation Center for Languages and Mathematics (PC) hosted an orientation event for Quarter 2, 2024, on Monday, March 25, in the MUIC Building 1 Auditorium. 190 new students and parents attended the event. There were 165 PC students, including 23 for MP, and 9 for the Mini PC summer course.
Parents and guardians were also invited to the orientation to have an opportunity to receive information from staff, meet instructors, and learn about the environment on campus. The aim is for this to strengthen relations and enhance the potential of the incoming students.
Ms. Satja Sopha, Senior Secretary of PC, and Ms. Sutasinee Teekabut, Head of the General Services Unit, gave the welcoming session. They provided general information about the program, including support staff roles, study guidelines, facilities, services, and so on, to help the new students and parents become familiar with the advantages of PC and MUIC.
Mr. Joseph Serrani, the Director of PC, and Mr. Mark Manning, the Assistant Director of PC, conducted the next session. They shared important benefits of PC as well as details about the skills, characteristics, and resources needed to succeed in the program. During this segment, more information about campus services and facilities was shared, and the names and photos of students who earned awards for “Outstanding Contributions” and “Academic Excellence” were displayed.
The final portion of the orientation involved visits to the classrooms. In order to get a sense of the environment and content of each PC level, the new students and some of their parents attended small sessions with instructors. Some PC alumni also joined these sessions and shared their experiences.
We would like to thank the new students and their parents for attending and warmly welcome them to the PC and MUIC community. This event marked another successful orientation in order to start students on the pathway to MUIC.
