MUIC, CAS Organize Seminar-workshop on AI in Actuarial Science

Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Applied Mathematics Program partnered with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) in organizing a seminar-workshop on actuarial science entitled, “General Insurance and AI in Insurance” on November 11, 2025 at Charinyarasami Hall, Aditayathorn Building.

As AI continues to transform economies across Asia and the world, the organizers noted that insurance professionals need a clearer, more grounded understanding of AI’s real-world implications.

The resource persons included the following:

Roosevelt Mosley, FCAS, CSPA
Managing Principal, Pinnacle Actuarial Resources

Geoff Werner, FCAS
Managing Member, Werner Advisory

James Guszcza, PhD, FCAS
Principal, Clear Risk Analytics; Research
Affiliate, Northwestern University CASMI

Thapaphol Watthanachoktaweesuk, ACAS – Senior Actuarial Associate,
Viriyah Insurance, Mahidol University graduate

This event offered a practical and strategic perspective on the evolving relationship between AI and actuarial science. On the one hand, actuaries can apply AI to enhance risk assessment, improve operational efficiencies, and support innovation in insurance and
beyond. At the same time, the actuarial discipline—with its deep roots in probabilistic thinking, real-world modeling, and an ethos of professionalism—offers critical insights needed for the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies.
