On November 21-22, 2025, several students of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) served as volunteers for the Bangkok Galleries’ Night, one of the city’s most vibrant cultural events.

Organized in collaboration with the French Embassy in Thailand and Sawadee France, this annual event brings art, culture, and community together by opening dozens of galleries to the public and creating a lively cultural journey across the city.

For the students, volunteering at Galleries Night was more than just taking part in an event—it was a unique learning opportunity. Throughout the two evenings, students assisted visitors, supported gallery staff, facilitated communication in Thai, English and French, and contributed to the smooth organization of activities. This hands-on experience offered them an authentic environment to practice intercultural communication skills, improve language abilities, and gain confidence interacting with diverse audiences.

Balancing studies with volunteer work also taught students about responsibility and time management. They reported that participating in a large-scale cultural event broadened their understanding of the art world, strengthened their teamwork abilities, and helped them develop a sense of community engagement. By stepping outside the classroom, they discovered how cultural activities can enrich academic learning and personal growth.

The participation of students highlights the value of experiential learning and the importance of engaging with local and international cultural initiatives. Their involvement demonstrates how volunteering can be both a meaningful service and an enriching educational experience.

MUIC extends its sincere thanks to the French Embassy in Thailand and Sawadee France for offering our students the opportunity to contribute, learn and take part in this inspiring cultural event.
