MUIC’s Music Club, Student Association Organize Battle of the Bands Competition

The Music Club and the Student Association of MUIC joined forces to come up with this year’s major musical event: “Soundscape Bands Battle: Campfire Crush” on March 13, 2025 at the Auditorium.

This year, a collaboration between the Music Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) and the Student Association (SMO Som-O) resulted in an exciting musical event, “Soundscape Bands Battle: Campfire Crush.”

The event, held on March 13, 2025, fired up MUIC’s music aficionados with live music, exhilarating competition and an electrifying atmosphere, as they filled the seats at the event’s venue, the Auditorium at MUIC Building 1. The audience cheered as each band brought its own unique flair and style, making the evening a memorable blend of talent, excitement, energy and spirit.

The previous year’s winning band, Auskeedoes Kuska, was given the honor of being the opening act as the event’s pair of masters of ceremonies—George Dodson Hindle from SMO Som-O and Jiratchaya Langkarpint from Music Club—fueled the competition’s energy with their lively banter, humor, energy, and playful chemistry, filling the venue with excitement, laughter, and moments of suspense. They seamlessly introduced each esteemed judge and every band taking the stage, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.

 The distinguished panel of judges was nothing short of exceptional ensuring a high level of expertise and professional judgment, featuring three virtuosos with diverse musical backgrounds:

● Ajarn Nattapong Kaewsaichoo – a jazz guitar master with a Master’s Degree from the College of Music, Mahidol University. He currently teaches at Mahidol University and runs an online course for jazz guitarists.

● Ajarn Charu Limsila – a Master’s degree holder from Silpakorn University’s College of Music,  he teaches at Music Master School, and is also a guest lecturer at Srinakharinwirot University and Bangkok Thonburi University.

● Amornpat “Aoy” Sermsap – lead vocalist of the band Asia7 from Gene Lab, she is also a musical actress in Four Reigns: The Musical, OST singer, YouTuber, and trained classical vocal singer.

By keenly evaluating each band’s performance, the judges came up with the four finalists in the “Soundscape Bands Battle: Campfire Crush” as follows (in order of performance):

In the end, after much anticipation, the Popular Vote went to SuckNees, whose stage presence and energetic song selection earned them 1,000 THB cash prize for capturing the hearts of the audience.

Bibidibobbidiboo secured 3rd Place and collected the 2,000 THB cash reward as they charmed and engaged with the crowd.

Coming in 2nd Place with a 3,000 THB cash prize was Untitled.Wav, impressing with their original sound and musical depth garnering a following in their own right.

Finally, as the MCs announced to a roaring applause, Last Order claimed the 1st Place title with a powerful and polished performance that captivated both the judges and the crowd, winning the 5,000 THB cash reward and a chance to perform for a special event in Trimester 3.

With more than 200 attendees, the “Soundscape Bands Battle: Campfire Crush” was an unforgettable musical experience, bringing together students, faculty members, and music lovers to celebrate the power of live performance. Each band brought something unique to the stage, making the evening a true showcase of MUIC’s diverse musical talent.
