The air at Mahidol University International College (MUIC) was buzzing with creative energy on Saturday, January 24, 2026. For a group of passionate high school students, the “Camp Dek Art Activity” was more than just a weekend event—it was a glimpse into their future and a chance too good to pass up.
This immersive one-day boot camp served as a vibrant introduction to MUIC’s renowned Communication Design Program (CDP). A total of 35 students, many with their supportive parents in tow, dove headfirst into a world of creativity. They sharpened their skills in a basic drawing workshop and, crucially, learned important tips on preparing a standout art and design portfolio—one of the keys that unlocks the door to the CDP.
The day also included a guided tour of the campus, where the stunning architectural design of the Aditayathorn Building left a lasting impression. As the students explored the state-of-the-art facilities and professional art studios, you could see their dreams taking shape.
Amid the day's exciting hustle and bustle, we caught up with several students and their parents to hear what they thought about the event, the program, and their journey into the world of art and design.

“I like the design of Aditayathorn Building—it looks very neat and the environment is very good. I like the way the ajarns taught us the drawing lesson. Regarding preparing portfolio: It was easier than I thought.” – Mr. Wachirawit Pelimco, Panyapiwat Institute of Management Demonstration School

“I’ve always considered studying in MUIC because my Dad (Mr. Ian Mcdonald) teaches here. Though I’m considering to take up a Science major, I also want to learn more about other programs like CDP. “I already liked doing illustrations. Then I saw the poster about this event which made me interested in attending it so that I can find out more about the CDP major. What I learned is that CDP’s curriculum has all the courses that I want to study in university. So, CDP has become one of my top options.” – Ms. Thamon Srisutrapon, Satriwitthaya 3
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been drawing a lot. I’ve known ever since that it’s art I’m interested in. I love making animation, making design, anything about art. I was part of our school trip to the Open Days here 3 years ago and I was introduced to the 17 majors of MUIC. Since then, I’ve become interested in CDP. After attending today’s event, I’ve been impressed with basically everything. I love this place.” – Ms. Sasipatsorn Panichakul, Satriwitthaya 2
