The Debate Club of Mahidol International College (MUIC) hosted “Triad Collaboration” at Seminar Room 1210, MUIC Building 1, on November 3, 2024. The one-day debate collaboration between Chulalongkorn University, King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi and Thammasat University was a showcase of exhilarating speechmaking and creative critical thinking.

Twenty-nine participants from the four universities engaged in constructive exchanges on a variety of topics, from contemporary global affairs to hypothetical situations. The event aimed to create a friendly environment where debaters would deliver a speech with powerups, an unconventional feature we added where fun unforeseen conditions will be randomly given to speakers before they deliver their speeches, bringing creativity and excitement into debates.

This was demonstrated by Mr. Tate Lee, a senior Debate Club member who was tasked with delivering a speech about Elon Musk, a challenge made even more intriguing by the randomized powerup, requiring him to incorporate Internet buzzwords into his arguments, adding an element of surprise to his delivery.

The event concluded with a relaxing awarding ceremony where the debaters acknowledged speakers with interesting ideas and entertaining speeches. As the collaboration came to a close, not only did the Debate Club and its members utilized skills in argumentation, but the event also enabled them to be more creative and provide an opportunity to bond and connect with debaters from other universities in a supportive environment.
