The Rakkaew Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) organized a field trip for 30 students at Baan Maai Chai Klong, Phoon Bum Phen Community in Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok, on October 18, 2024.

The day began with a warm welcome from the guest speakers of Baan Maai Chai Klong, followed by a tour through the community’s homes and workspaces led by their leader.

The student participants began with a tie-dyeing activity, using natural resources like stones, wood, and turmeric to create eco-friendly colors. Next, they learned to make traditional Thai desserts such as “thong aek” and “saneh jan,” both intricate and traditionally royal sweets with significant cultural meanings. The final activity focused on making organic fertilizers using natural ingredients to enrich the soil, benefiting plant health and growth cycles.

As the day drew to a close, the participants took photos and expressed their gratitude to the community members for their warmth, hospitality, and the valuable skills they shared throughout the day. The experience left the visiting students with a deep appreciation for the community’s traditions and commitment to sustainability.
