Mahidol University International College (MUIC) signed recently a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tether Operations Ltd., the largest company in the digital asset industry, to advance education on blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and digital finance across Thailand.

The MOU forms part of MUIC's Business Administration (BA) Finance major program and is led by Dr. Aman Saggu, a researcher in crypto-economics and banking. It also includes Dr. Thanarerk Thanakijsombat, an expert in international finance and the lightning network; Dr. Nassim Dehouche, a computer scientist and operations specialist; and Dr. Alessandro Stasi, a renowned scholar in blockchain law.

This MOU reflects a fusion of academic and industry expertise, seamlessly combining Tether's mission to foster financial inclusion and empower individuals with MUIC's mission to nurture human potential through innovative education in an international context.

Key aspects of the MOU include:

  • Education Integration: Advancing MUIC’s BA Finance major program by integrating blockchain, peer-to-peer technologies, and stablecoin education. It aims to cover the latest advancements in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, and law.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Organizing workshops, guest lectures, and meetups for the public and MUIC community to share knowledge and access to Tether's vast network of technology experts, thought leaders, and educational materials via the Plan B Network.
  • Research Collaboration: Engaging in joint research projects with academic staff and students focused on innovative financial technologies.

"We firmly believe that education is the cornerstone of financial literacy and inclusion. By combining our expertise with MUIC's academic excellence, this MOU demonstrates our commitment to bridging knowledge gaps, empowering individuals, and fostering global economic growth. We hope that this collaboration will better equip individuals to make responsible decisions in the digital space," said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.

Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, MD, Dean of MUIC, added, "The MOU with Tether facilitates the direct transfer of advanced knowledge and research findings to students and the public, enhancing their expertise, honing their skills, and preparing them for future technological challenges."

This initiative aims to modernize financial education by integrating essential blockchain and cryptocurrency innovations often overlooked in traditional academic programs. MUIC's BA Finance major program is grateful for its MOU with Tether. It seeks to pioneer a movement that encourages other universities to embrace these critical advancements, setting a new standard in education.
