A delegation from Mahidol University International College (MUIC) met with officials of the Chulalongkorn University International Medical Program (CU-MEDi) on July 11, 2023 at Chulalongkorn University to discuss collaboration projects between the two institutions, future joint PR activities, and an assessment of the academic performance of MUIC students.

Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, M.D., MUIC Dean, together with Ms. Wimonsiri Hemtanon, Associate Dean for Student Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Tumnoon Charaslertrangsi, Program Director of Biological Sciences; and Mr. Laird Allan, faculty member of the Science Division, had a productive discussion with Prof. Nijasri Charnnarong, M.D., CU-MEDi Program Director and her team.

Nine recent graduates of MUIC have successfully enrolled in the CU-MEDi program under the MUIC-Chula Graduate Entry Medicine Pathway. They are: Mr. Dhup Bhukdee, Mr. Abhishet Varama, Ms. Sakulrat Martpunyachon, Ms. Siriyakorn Chudhakorn, Ms. Virunpatcha Hengsadeekul, Mr. Sirapob Ruayfupant, and Mr. Tanapat Sathapornsermsuk, who are all from the Biological Sciences program; Ms. Siripreeya Phankingthongkum from the Chemistry program; and Ms. Kochakorn Weerachun from the Finance program.  Aside from Ms. Kochakorn and Mr. Tanapat, the rest were able to join the photoshoot and the dinner afterwards.

According to Asst. Prof. Dr. Tumnoon Charaslertrangsi, “the nine alumni have been attending the Foundations in Medicine course, a foundation course that adjusts everyone to the same level, since the first week of June.” The first term starts in early August this year.

He added: "The CU-MEDi Program is shifting the approach of studying medicine in Thailand, where students of diverse backgrounds and interests are allowed to study. It is the first post-graduate medical program that students with a bachelor's degree in arts or social science could contribute valuable perspectives to the medical profession. Students are more mature, multi-talented, and ready to pursue their studies. They will become excellent global doctors in the future."
