Igniting Curiosity, Serving Society: Chemistry Ajarn Wins Outstanding Science Teacher Award 2026

When a teacher passionately dedicates over a decade to inspiring curious minds, extraordinary things happen. For nearly 11 years since earning her Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Berkeley, Asst. Prof. Dr. Manchuta Dangkulwanich has been a guiding light in Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Chemistry Program. Today, her profound impact on science education receives well-deserved national recognition: she has been named recently a recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Science Teacher Award 2026 in the Higher Education category by the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King.

Dr. Manchuta’s educational philosophy is deeply rooted in purpose and integrity. Guided by Prince Mahidol of Songkla’s principle—"Let the benefit of the people be your first concern; personal benefit is secondary"—she views teaching not merely as a profession, but as a vital opportunity to serve society and empower young learners.

"The greatest joy in my career comes from witnessing students experience an ‘Aha!’ moment, when a difficult concept suddenly becomes clear and their eyes light up with understanding," she shares warmheartedly. To Dr. Manchuta, who is also the Vice Chair of the Science Division, educators are meant to be "cultivators of curiosity, inspiration, and a positive outlook on the world," broadening student perspectives to show how chemistry enriches everyday life.

Winning Thailand’s premier award for science educators is a deeply humbling milestone. She credits MUIC’s supportive environment, her encouraging colleagues, and above all, her students. "Their curiosity and dedication make teaching such a rewarding profession," Dr. Manchuta reflects. "This award inspires me to continue using science education to create meaningful learning experiences, spark curiosity, and make a positive impact on society."

Dr. Manchuta’s achievement brings boundless pride to the MUIC community. Her heartfelt commitment reminds us that true scientific discovery begins with an inspired teacher—and that lighting the spark of learning can truly change the world.
