The Sigma Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) organized a “Critique of the Term” activity through a contest called “Utopian Design.” This trimester-long activity ran from January 20 to March 19, 2021.

Club members selected a dystopian story to be analyzed by contestants who competed either as individuals or in groups of 2-3 members. The contestants then participated in online consultation sessions where they described the problem and finally presented possible (utopian) solutions in 500-1,000 words. Prizes were awarded to the most upvoted entries during the last week of the trimester.

Ms. Areeya Marie Wongla and Ms. Natatip Atiphantanarpa, both Biological Science students, won 1st Place for their entry, “Dystopia to Utopia: Selfishness in the Way” (with a 1,000 Baht cash prize), while Ms. Siritun Atiphantanarpa, also taking up Biological Science, won 2nd Place for his entry “The Penthouse” (with a 700 Baht cash prize).
