Mahidol University International College (MUIC) had the honor of welcoming representatives from the World Bank Thailand for a special talk on “Thailand’s Digital Future and Economic Outlook,” organized by the Business Economics major of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program.

Held on July 4, 2025 at Charinyarasami Hall, 3rd Floor, Aditayathorn Building, the session opened withMrs. Paniti Chuenrudeemol, Senior HR Business Partner of the World Bank Thailand, who introduced the mission and global structure of the institution. With staff representing over 180 nationalities and speaking more than 120 languages, the World Bank collaborates with its 189 member countries to achieve its core goals: ending poverty andboosting shared prosperity on a livable planet.

Following this introduction, Ms. Warunthorn Puthong, an Economist at the World Bank Thailand, presented key insights from the recently launched Thailand Economic Monitor, released just one day before the event. She highlighted that while Thailand continues to face challenges related to a volatile global policy environment and a slower-than-expected recovery in tourism, there remain positive signs. In particular, business confidence and fiscal stimulus are expected to support short-term growth. Nonetheless, reaching Thailand’s ambition of becoming a high-income country will require faster and sustained growth, driven by increasedproductivity, innovationentrepreneurship, and technology adoption.

The event drew over 70 MUIC students from both the Business Administration and International Relations and Global Affairs programs who actively engaged the guest speakers in a lively discussion during the Q&A session. Several students continued their conversations with the guest speakers even after the formal program concluded.

The event ended with a walk-around exhibition organized by the Business Economics students, who showcased their trimester-long group projects addressing business sustainability challenges and opportunities in the Thai context. This provided a unique platform for students to share how they connected their academic learning with real-world development issues.

Overall, the event was an enriching experience for the MUIC community, offering students valuable exposure to global economic insights and sustainability discourse. MUIC looks forward to further opportunities to collaborate and learn alongside the World Bank Thailand in the future.
