Road to Busan

About The Event

The International Relations and Global Affairs program will host a special seminar, “Road to Busan: Civil Society Insights on the Final Plastics Treaty Negotiations”, on Monday, November 4, 2024.

The upcoming Global Plastics Treaty negotiations in Busan mark a crucial step in the global effort to combat plastic pollution. As the world prepares for the final round of talks (November 24 – December 1, 2024) to establish a legally binding agreement, this event will discuss the treaty’s significance, negotiation challenges, and the debates between oil-producing nations and those most affected by plastic waste.

Our speaker, Punyathorn Jeungsmarn from the Environmental Justice Foundation, will share firsthand insights from previous negotiation rounds, focusing on civil society’s role and the treaty’s potential impact and implications for Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Date: Monday, November 4, 2024.

Time: 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Location: Charinyarasimi Hall, 3rd Floor, Aditayathorn Building

The event is open to faculty, students and staff from all majors.
