The MUIC Theatre Club held an online competition called“Low-Cost Cosplay Challenge” from June 23 - July 5, 2021.

Intended to give participants a chance to enjoy themselves and exercise their creativity during the pandemic lockdown, the organizers allowed the contestants to illustrate their ideas freely—any format or style is welcome. According to the club’s officers, “This time of the pandemic has been difficult for all of us, both financially and mentally. We thought, ‘What if we hold a cosplay challenge which will not require any fancy props or material and is fun to do?’ Even a piece of cloth can turn you into your favorite fictional character!”

There were three winners: The Beauty Prize (with 1,000 Baht cash prize) was awarded to Ms. Praewa Suwannacheep (majoring in International relations and Global Affairs) who dressed up as Lust from a famous Japanese anime, “Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.”

The Low-cost Prize (with a 1,000 Baht cash prize) went to Ms. Monnattha Sornsilp (Food Science and Technology) who dressed up as Ariel from the all-time favorite Disney movie, “The Little Mermaid.”

The Popular Prize (with a 500 Baht cash prize) went to Ms. Navleen Chaturvedi (Environmental Science) who dressed up as Daphne Blake from “Scooby-Doo” cartoon series.

The club officers added, “(There may be only three winners but) All participants won our hearts. They had shown us their multi-skills in various fields, whether art or technology and their endless imagination and creativity.”
