Why MUIC’s Future Travel and Service Business Professionals and Entrepreneurs Love their Major
“What’s the best part of studying in your major program?”
This is the first in a series of articles that seeks out what students think about their major. Would the lessons they learn definitely help them in their future career? What are the other things that their major program offers which would give them the edge over their job market competitors in the near future?
For this first article in a series, we feature two students from the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship (BM-TSB) Program under the Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Division. The BM-TSB program, it should be noted, has recently had its accreditation by UN Tourism.TedQual renewed, reinforcing its distinction of being the first undergraduate international program of its kind in Thailand to receive TedQual certification.
Ms. Pusanisa Morsrijai is a former member of the THM Ambassadors—a group of volunteers who assist in division activities that promote the BM-TSB program. Mr. Satjapoom Chansirichok, on the other hand, is a current THM Ambassador member.
Here’s what they said:
Ms. Pusanisa Morsrijai
“The two greatest things about the BM-TSB Program that have made me a better student are its extensive curriculum and the outstanding encouraging community.
First, this curriculum covers the whole service sector and fully prepares us for real-world challenges with a course structure stressing practical skills, therefore transcending traditional hospitality. This all-encompassing strategy ensures that I’m ready for my future job by providing me with insights and abilities applicable in several fields.
“Second, the closely-knit community of the program is invaluable. Having been a member of the THM Ambassadors, I have developed close relationships with professors and executives who are eager in their support of our success. These relationships have opened amazing possibilities for me to have practical knowledge and insights that have shaped my development.
More than just a study program, this feels like a family that supports and embraces one another, which makes me very thankful to be a part of. This feeling of community and professional network has motivated me to challenge myself and develop personally as a student and future business professional.”
Mr. Satjapoom Chansirichok
“First of all, let me say that all classes in the BM-TSB Program shaped me to be a student who not only pays attention to lectures but also participates in group activities which is absolutely crucial for me as a student who needs to work in travel and service industry after graduation.
“Each module in our program provides unique classes that let us work on a big project. For example, in the Food and Restaurant Module, I had an opportunity to undergo apprenticeship in the baking department of Mandarin Oriental Bangkok during my summer break. This opportunity gave me a lot of memorable working experiences and also widened my perspective.
“Another crucial part of the BM-TSB Program that transformed me from a quiet student who lacks self-confidence to becoming a member of the THM Ambassadors is every THM professor and friend. The BM-TSB Program may not have many students or professors, but it is an advantage that our professors easily reach out to every student. Our professors always give me advice and encourage me to overcome failures or mistakes and enable me to be better at every step. These two parts of my experiences as a BM-TSB student have developed me in a positive way from my freshman years to my third year. I appreciate all these and I’m proud to be a BM-TSB student.”
As these two students have made clear, the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship (BM-TSB) Program effectively prepares them for a successful career in the future, thanks to its lecturers, staff, and the overall support of MUIC.
The BM-TSB Program is one of the most popular majors as shown by the high number of applicants.
