On February 28, 2025, 28 students composed of 12 participants and 16 club members joined the Alien Invasion: First Encounter event organized by Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Model United Nations (MUN) Club at Room A418, 4th Floor, Aditayathorn Building.

The participants facing this challenge must first study and analyze the fictional scenario (spiced up by an unexpected turn of events) and use their wits and creativity to overcome it.

The event started with an opening speech by the club’s President, Mr. Jiratt Pluemtanom, encouraging participants to use their creativity to the fullest. This event also served as an exercise for the Academic team for chairing a Model United Nations conference. The position of the chair is a crucial part of any Model United Nations event. This session is expected to prepare the Academic team for future events.

This MUN session simulated a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, where the delegates have to face an unknown visitor from space, an encounter with an extraterrestrial being. The delegates of the countries of the world are split into three factions: Pro-Extraterrestrial, Anti-Extraterrestrial and Neutrality. The Security Council has to come together and decide on a resolution for the future of humanity and better interplanetary relations.

This activity helped the delegates to train their public speaking, leadership, language, and quick-thinking skills which will help them in their future career.
