What Role Did MUIC Play in Your Future Business?

Here are four MUIC alumni. All of them graduated with a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. All of them with successful businesses that they themselves have started. How did MUIC figure in all of these? What lessons did they learn from MUIC that helped them in starting their enterprise? Here are their answers, in their own words:

“My college years in MUIC played a pivotal role in shaping my entrepreneurial path. Surrounded by a diverse group of creative minds, I was constantly inspired and challenged to think outside the box. The business courses provided me with a solid foundation in entrepreneurship, teaching me the importance of strategic planning, management, and marketing. It was here that I learned that passion alone isn’t enough to build a successful business—it requires a blend of creativity, hard work, and strategic thinking.”

“I’ve been interested in nutrition since my fourth year at MUIC but at that time I focused on healthy lifestyle because I personally faced a health issue which is food allergy. “What I gained from MUIC gave me the foundation for being an entrepreneur. It made me see opportunities in business easily as I was trained to think critically from a business standpoint. “The learning methods I underwent in MUIC shaped my way of thinking about business and taught me different ways of managing business in real life and not only in theories.”

Year Graduated: 2012

“Studying at MUIC was an important step in my career path as an entrepreneur because of the numerous opportunities that I had participating in activities organized by both MUIC and my home division, THM. Joining the Student Association (also known by its Thai acronym, SMO) enabled me to work not only with friends, teachers, staff but also with other people outside of the university.

I was usually assigned communication and PR tasks. Since my ultimate goal was to become an entrepreneur, I tried my best to learn a lot from my ajarns who are updated with industry trends. From both my classes and internship I have learned how to be service-minded.

“My internship at Salaya Pavilion Hotel Training was a major training ground for properly organizing events. I did everything during internship—brainstorming ideas, setting an event agenda, shopping for stuff, creating production design, writing a script, coming up with performances, preparing the menu and doing other tasks that must be accomplished on a tight deadline. However, we were always able to produce results that were beyond expectation.”

Year Graduated: 2017

“My entrepreneurship journey was quite a rollercoaster ride. I enjoyed participating in college and club activities, particularly backstage work like brainstorming ideas and preparing things that need to be done. To be honest, I didn’t know yet at that time that this is what is called event management. What really triggered my passion was when I enrolled in the Event Management course under Ajarn Toby on my very last term. Suddenly, a light bulb lit up in my mind, making me realize that this is the job that I really want to do after my graduation. My journey did really start on my last term as an undergraduate student. After that, I interned in an event management company and started working there after I graduated so that I can gain as much real-world experience as I can.”

These four alumni indeed reached their career goals through various pathways from different directions but it is undeniable that they got their first start during their years studying in MUIC.
