The International Relations and Global Affairs (IRGA) is designed for globally minded students ready to make a real impact. The major covers themes such as history, politics and diplomacy, human rights and gender issues, culture and media, environmental policy and international development, as well as conflict and peace studies and equips students with the knowledge, analytical tools, and practical experience to lead in a rapidly changing world. <br><br> Students explore a diverse range of topics in the field of International Relations and Global Affairs while developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills essential for careers in government, international organizations, international business, and beyond. Our interdisciplinary curriculum offers unique insights into global challenges and the dynamics of international cooperation – both inside the classroom and through a range of extracurricular activities like podium discussions and workshops with leading experts and practitioners. Located in a vibrant, multicultural academic environment, students benefit from internship opportunities, study-abroad programs, and direct engagement with relevant institutions such as the UN, NGOs or the government sector and diplomatic corps. Graduates leave not only with a degree, but with the confidence and global perspective needed to shape policy, influence change, and build a more connected and just world.

The Intercultural Studies and Languages major aims to be innovative in its design and responsive to today’s rapidly changing world while remaining faithful to the ideals of the liberal arts tradition. With an emphasis on global citizenship, the ICIC program fosters cultural appreciation, critical thinking skills, ethical leadership, and creative problem solving. We guide students to a comprehensive and broad understanding of state-of-the-art interdisciplinary science enabling them to innovate sustainable, pragmatic solutions for a multi-cultural world. What are the Biological Sciences? Biology, or the biological sciences , is the science of life. It is an extremely diverse field of study so MUIC offers several different modules (concentrations) within the overall Biological Sciences major. The diversity stems not only from the tremendous variety of life forms we share Earth with but also from the many levels of supra- and sub-organism organization, such as cells and ecosystems. Biological research thus encompasses perspectives from the planetary to the sub-microscopic. Though focused on a particular species, a biologist might choose to investigate many aspects of it: behavior, community relationships, the genetic mechanisms that shape form and functionality, how it has evolved and is evolving, or the intricacies of its cellular machinery. Many students are also attracted by the applications of such fundamental knowledge; applied biology looks to use scientifically valid knowledge to better manage the health and well-being of ecosystems, humans, animals and economies. Humans as stewards of Earth carry responsibility for ourselves and our planet. What options will I have after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences? Whether you choose to stay in Thailand or go abroad, you’ll be ready for many paths: Continuing your studies for a graduate degree (doctorate or master’s) in areas like Medicine, Bioinformatics, Dentistry, Veterinary Science or Pharmacy. Most fields of science require the specialization that an advanced degree affords. An M.D. Ph.D., D.D.S. and D.V.S. is your ultimate goal here, so be prepared for a few more years of study. MUIC also has Pathway Programs that can accelerate the conferral of an M.D or D.D.S. degree for the most highly qualified students. Developing and leading private sector projects in research and development departments Working as a specialist in customer relations, management and counseling in many health services companies, or in the scientific instruments industry. Founding and owning companies with technological products and services from genetic testing and ancestry tracing to home health care, health supplements, effective foods or personal sustainability. Working in the public sector to develop, enable or enforce conservation, health protection, regulation, or research programs or policy. Teaching at international primary and secondary schools, or be employed as a teaching assistant at any university. Being a research assistant in laboratories doing all kinds of biotechnology, biomedical, biodiversity, environmental protection or other types of research. What about the Biological Sciences program itself? MUIC Biological Sciences will expand and deepen your intellect and network. In your first year or two, you’ll pursue a rigorous and diverse general education curriculum with classmates from throughout MUIC; then you’ll dive deeply into core areas like genetics, biochemistry, ecology and cell biology during your middle years. During years three to four, most students choose to finish a specialized module (concentration); options include Biomedical Science, Ecology and Conservation, Health and Wellness, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Everyone completes a final year research project and an entrepreneurship or internship to hone their practical skills. You will be fully prepared to begin, for example, your M.D., Ph.D. or D.D.S. degree, or entry-level professional work in the public or private sector.

Physics program offers comprehensive Physics disciplines – mechanics, electromagnetic, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics and laboratory skills. We also offer 2 tracks —Astrophysics and Computational Physics tracks— for students who want to pursue further study in the fields. The program is suitable for those who want to venture into new findings as well as for those that have their eyes set on the stars.

The Food Science and Technology program’s curriculum is designed to not only meet international standards but also to address future industries and services, such as bio-industry and smart entrepreneurs to enhance the competitiveness of the country. The curriculum is also aligned with MU graduate attributes and MUIC’s liberal arts and flexible education initiatives. Courses are prepared to meet the challenges of living and working in a diverse and globalized world. The program is designed to help students gain the essential mathematical skills required for MUIC entrance and future success in their college courses. By focusing on core concepts such as algebra and pre-calculus, students will develop a strong academic foundation while also realizing the vital importance of proper study skills and thorough preparation in achieving their long-term academic goals.

The Finance Major is a rigorous program which will equip you with a solid financial foundation and essential quantitative skills for Finance. The distinctive feature of the Finance Major is its strong emphasis on corporate finance and financial investment, as well as emerging tools of financial technology; improvements in corporate governance; and financial strategies in emerging economies. The curriculum furnishes Finance Majors with the necessary knowledge in microeconomics; macroeconomics; data analytics; accounting; financial analysis; risk management; banking operations; and corporate governance. <br><br> The courses are further tailored to provide students with practical computational skills; and an in-depth understanding of the application of financial theory in a world of disruptive innovation, further advanced through internships and research.

This program is the first transdisciplinary program with a mix of computer science, transmedia design, and communication design offered at Mahidol University. With its combination of arts and sciences, the program prepares the graduates for the newly emerging career opportunities of the 21st century. <br><br> In addition, this program offers additional curriculum flexibility to customize for individual learning choices with MUIC’s distinctive I-Design electives as well as the program’s electives in MUIC, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, and College of Music.

The Bachelor of Management in Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship (BM-TSB) is offered by the Tourism and Hospitality Management Division (THM) to nurture students to cope with the rapid and disruptive changes of growth of travel industry. <br><br> From the perspective of travel and related service business practitioners, the industry does not only value graduates with academic knowledge, but also has a high demand for well-rounded graduates who are agile, flexible, having service mindset, ability for intercultural communications, analytical skills, and creative ideas which are required as important skills for the 21st century so that the graduates will be capable to nurture their entrepreneurial ability, and establishing their own business, or being potential leader for the industry.

The International Business Major has become one of the most popular academic programs at MUIC, particularly since it explores all facets of operating a business internationally. The curriculum offers a wide range of business issues and concerns in the areas of economics, trade, finance, marketing, human resources, operations, legal issues, ethics, import and export, the impact on foreign direct investment (FDI) as well as global business competition and cooperation. Business negotiations and international business management are emphasized in such a way as to provide students with a greater insight into global leadership development and identifying alternative approaches for entering various markets worldwide.

EP helps students build a solid foundation of grammar and vocabulary as well as increase their ability to communicate and think logically for academic purposes. Reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills are integrated in each level through various tasks and projects that focus on important issues. Some EP students also study mathematics to prepare them for courses at MUIC.

The science of computing is transforming the world at a breathtaking pace. Think self-driving cars, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial brains. Think medical advances made possible by the sheer computation power and our newfound ability to gather and sift through massive amounts of data. In this age, this is the science that touches every life and drives every modern endeavor. Through hands-on projects and active learning activities, students in our program will be trained not only to make excellent use of the state-of-the-art technology but also to create and drive future technology. <br><br> We are the first international undergraduate Computer Science program in Thailand accredited by the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). In addition, scholars in the Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talents Project (DPST) sponsored by the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) to study abroad can apply to this program. <br><br> Our curriculum comprehensively covers foundational aspects of computing. Delve deeper by choosing from several focus areas—1. AI & data analytics; 2. software construction; 3. (big) data platform engineering; and 4. research-oriented computer science—or combining them into your unique focus area with our expert help. The program is suitable for those seeking a high-paying job right after college as well as for those aiming for further study.

The Media and Communication program provides students with a strong foundation in media theory, creative production, and strategic communication. Designed to meet the demands of today’s dynamic media landscape, the program blends conceptual understanding with practical skills in storytelling, branding, audience engagement, and multi-platform content creation. <br><br> Courses emphasize critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and fact-based communication, enabling students to craft accurate, research-driven messages across various formats. The curriculum fosters a deep understanding of how media operates within social, political, and cultural contexts, while also developing students’ ability to communicate clearly and responsibly in the digital age.

Mathematics is the language of modern science, technology, and finance. The Applied Mathematics program at MUIC equips students with the analytical and problem-solving skills essential for today’s data-driven world. <br><br> Students gain a solid foundation in mathematical modeling, statistics, and computation, while developing the flexibility to apply mathematics to real-world problems in diverse areas such as finance, data analytics, IT, and education. <br><br> Through I-Design, students can tailor their studies with minors in Decision Making or Statistics, or follow the Financial Mathematics track. The program also offers a Certificate in Actuarial Mathematics, with courses aligned with SOA exam topics—an excellent starting point for students aspiring to careers as actuaries or financial analysts.

Chemistry is the study of matter and changes it can undergo. Everything around us is made of chemicals, which are made up of elements. They can combine in various ways and result in new substances with new properties. Application of chemistry is everywhere around us, such as materials, foods, forensics, and pharmaceuticals. <br><br> Our chemistry program is the first in Asia and the third outside the US to be recognized by the American Chemical Society under the ACS Recognition of Global Programs in Chemical Sciences. Master of Management in International Tourism and Hospitality Management (MM)

The Business Economics Major is based on the economic foundations and developments that have occurred in this subject area over the last several decades. Business Economics majors will be well-equipped in both the micro and the macro aspects of economics and their analytical applications to the operational aspects of any business in any particular industry. The curriculum not only provides students with a solid foundation in economics but also prepares them with the tools to better understand the business environment, its market structures and the strategies necessary to compete in a global business world.

The Marketing Major provides students with relevant marketing skills, a crucial component of any business which includes conducting research to learn about the needs of customers, developing new products or refining existing ones, setting prices, determining where products should be sold and promoting the product to the final users. The curriculum furnishes Marketing majors with a sound foundation in the basics of marketing, consumer behavior and marketing research before advancing to the higher level modules of different marketing strategy courses. Students learn how to analyze situations and implement strategies under different market environments through lectures, class discussions, case studies and projects.

MUIC’s Communication Design Program (CDP) is a studio-based program that combines creative practice with acquisition of theoretical knowledge, as well as a strong background in general education. The coursework stresses hands-on experience, practical and constructive application of critical thinking skills and the effective communication of innovative ideas. Class sizes are small and dedicated instructors work closely with students to ensure favorable outcomes. With an international mindset, students engage in projects that focus on current issues, employing design solutions that factor in sustainability and also have the potential to benefit society. As CDP has been operating successfully since 2009, many students have received international and national awards for their design work. <br><br> With an emphasis in preparing students to work in the professional industry, alumni of the program utilize their skills in a variety of areas of design and advertising in Thailand and abroad, and many have continued their studies at the master’s level in top university programs worldwide.
