MUIC’s CDP Partners with Chula’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Communication Design Program (CDP) collaborated recently with the Innovation and Education Technology Unit (IETU), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Chulalongkorn University (CU).

From August to December last year, CDP’s ICCD342 New Media Design class worked with CU’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in a project entitled “Motion Graphics Creation for Innovative Information and Research on Pharmaceutical Sciences.” This partnership promoted knowledge transfer through cross-disciplinary learning which greatly benefitted both students and academic staff from the two institutions. 

This joint undertaking led to a competition between 10 groups of students and lecturers from MUIC and 10 groups of students, lecturers, and researches from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, all of whom participated in this project. Following the production of all motion graphics, the competition was set up to evaluate and award students’ works by the appointed external reviewers on March 3, 2023.

Three motion graphic projects won the 1st and 2nd Prizes. The 1st Prize went to Team A: Functional Food composed of seven CDP students: Ms. Sunitcha Chavengvorakul, Ms. Prapatsorn Wongsakornwisit, Ms. Jidapa Sittinuntawit, Ms. Vasuta Sombatrongrong, Mr. Chinnawat Pongnetwilai, Ms. Saahiba Phongsinghwithaya, and Ms. Jatuporn Sartpant.

Meanwhile, two teams, both of which were also from CDP, tied for 2nd Prize. The first team was Team D: Quality and Safety of Medicine and Health Products composed of Ms. Natrawee Junprasirt, Ms. Nattaya Phoothong, Ms. Dhitipond Taveevararuk, Mr. Harit Tungthirasuk, Ms. Phurichaya boonyapongpun, and Ms.Teerasiree Pakkayanond.  The second  team was Team H: Aqueous Drug Delivery System-HY-N composed of Ms. Aasis Chularatnaphol, Ms. Napatsakorn Petchvorakul, Mr. Ekaphumthawi Atchariyapruk, Ms. Peerada Sinthunava, and Mr. Ohmmaphat Roekduangchan. 

The winning teams received cash prizes that were sponsored by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Chulalongkorn University. 

The screening and awarding ceremony were held on April 5, 2023 at the Screening Room, Aditayathorn Building, with Asst. Prof. Pharmacist Dr. Preedakorn Chunhacha, Associate Dean for Education Innovations and IT, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of CU, presenting the 1st Prize award, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Patsarin Rodpothong Wongkamhang, Associate Dean for Strategic Planning and Quality Development of MUIC presenting the 2nd Prize awards to the two teams of student winners.

Aside from promoting collaborations between MUIC and internal and external institutions, this project also helps enhance the CDP students’ design and motion graphic production skills and also their soft skills in the areas of communication and teamwork, thus preparing them for their future professional practice.
