Bake a Cake, Be a Hotelier, Do Loads of Cool Things in the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program!
As the tourism and hospitality industry is slowly making a comeback after the pandemic, students enrolled in MUIC’s Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program are confident that they’re on their way to reaching their future career goals.
We were able to talk recently to two students while they were busily preparing pastries in their class.
Why did they enroll in MUIC? Why did they choose the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program?
Ms. Phimthitiphan Sarapimpa, a 4th Year student,
Q. What’s the coolest thing about being a student in the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program?
A. It’s that most of the projects involved practical learning, taught by professors with hands-on experience in each field. When a person has been involved in the hospitality industry, I feel like they have these traits of being empathetic and put others’ needs first, whether they provide service or education. My friends from other majors that took some of our classes also said that the professors in our (Tourism and Hospitality) division are kind which make my friends feel comfortable in asking for any advice.
Q. Three positive words to describe your program?
A. Welcoming, Practical, Authentic
Another student majoring in Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship is Ms. Patoomtip Rodpracha , who is in her 3rd Year.
For her, deciding to enroll in MUIC was a no-brainer especially because “the college is internationally recognized for its academic excellence and is accredited by international accreditation bodies.” She added that “accreditation ensures that the education provided by MUIC meets high-quality standards and is recognized globally.”
Ms. Patoomtip’s ambition is to establish her own hotel. This might just come true because the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program will prepare her for such a career goal.
She explained, “By studying in this program, students can acquire the knowledge and skills needed for various roles, such as tourism management, hospitality management, event planning, customer service, and entrepreneurship. The program also has a strong alumni network and connections with industry partners, increasing the chances of students finding employment sooner or launching their own ventures after graduation.”
In the meantime, she’s having a blast in her pastry classes. “Baking bread and pastries require precision and knowledge of techniques such as dough handling, proofing, and shaping. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I successfully create items like perfectly flaky croissants, airy brioche, or crusty artisan bread.”
Q: What’s the coolest thing about being a student in the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program?
A: One cool thing could be the opportunity to develop and present my own business plans for travel or service ventures. This could involve conducting market research, identifying target audiences, designing innovative offerings, and formulating strategies for success. Presenting my ideas to classmates, professors, or industry experts is such an exciting and rewarding experience for me.
Q: Three positive words to describe your program?
A: Innovative, Practical and Collaborative
With its exciting courses, hands-on, industry-savvy faculty members, and international accreditations, the Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship Program can indeed offer much to those aspiring to joining the tourism and hospitality industry.
