The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute recently accepted Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Finance Program into its CFA University Affiliation program.
MUIC now has the distinction of being the 4th institution to be affiliated with the CFA Institute at the undergraduate degree program level In Thailand. In total, only six Thai universities have been included in this program—four at the undergraduate and two at the graduate levels.
Dr. Benjalux Sakunasingha, BA Division Chair, said this means the Finance Program, which is under the Business Administration Division, has a “robust and quality” that is up to par in international industry standards especially in the area of investment management.
“The acceptance of BBA (Finance) into the CFA University Affiliation program proves that the body of knowledge offered in our Finance Program meets the criteria set by the CFA Institute. Our courses include Quantitative Methods, Corporate Finance, Investment, Derivatives, Financial Analysis, Economics, and Ethical and Professional Standards. Our students receive adequate preparation for the CFA Level 1 examination. I believe we are nurturing our BA students to be successful as professional businesspersons of the future,” she said.
She added that many employers seek graduates from schools with CFA affiliation, and offer higher and more competitive salaries for students who pass the CFA Level 1 exam.
As part of this inclusion, the CFA institute also granted six scholarships to BA students worth approximately US$1,050 each. This includes the program enrollment fee and reduction of examination registration fee.
