MUIC Conducts Orientation to Incoming Freshmen

More than 600 incoming freshmen attended Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Undergraduate Orientation for Trimester 1, Academic Year 2019-2010, on September 4-5, 2019.

Assoc. Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, MD, Dean of MUIC, formally welcomed MUIC’s new students. Dr. Chompunuch Pongjit, Associate Dean for Educational Affairs, gave a report and an overview of the orientation. Mrs. Kurniati Wirakotan, Head of the Academic Counseling Unit, discussed the College’s curriculum and Mahidol University regulations while Asst. Prof. Analiza Amurao, Chair of the Humanities and Language Division, presented the humanities and foreign languages courses that the students can choose to enroll in.

The Office of Academic Affairs, which organized the event, prepared a series of other important activities for the incoming students. They first met with their respective academic advisors to learn more about their chosen majors. Later in the afternoon, they attended a training session on the safe handling of scientific and laboratory equipment.

The following day, the freshmen attended the ceremony paying homage to HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkla. Afterwards, Dr. Chayanant Hongfa, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, gave a presentation about the services provided by the Student Affairs Office.

After the freshmen were given a tour of the library, they attended a lecture on “MUIC Academic Life to Global Experience” by Dr. Alexander Nanni, Associate Dean for International Affairs. Later, Mrs. Wirakotan briefed them on how to use the College’s Student Registration System before they registered their chosen courses in the upcoming trimester.
