MUIC Students Participate in “SMU-X Overseas Project Experiences”

Two students from Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Intercultural Studies and Languages (ICIC) Program and International Relations and Global Affairs (IRGA) Program participated in the “SMU-X Overseas Project Experiences: Applied Social Sciences in Globalized Asia” from January 25 to May 18, 2024.

Ms. Zoe Morrison, a junior ICIC student, and Ms. Rawiphat Rattanamekul, a senior IRGA student, participated in the project to engage with the Thai private sector to advance disability inclusion and accessibility. Their groups worked together interviewing companies and finding solutions that they would pitch at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

From January to April, students joined the online course facilitated by Singapore Management University (SMU) before they continued their projects in Thailand in May.

Organized by Mahidol University’s (MU) International Relations Division in collaboration with SMU, the project attracted 40 students from both universities.

The program offered many site visits to help enrich the participants’ learning and experiences which were then utilized to help enhance the contents of their respective projects. The students went to Singapore Management University Overseas Centre Bangkok (SMUOCB) at Samyan Mitrtown, did community work at Nakhon Pathom School for the Deaf and presented their projects at the UNESCAP headquarters.

The two MUIC students said they had an amazing few months learning and connecting with the students from SMU.
