MUIC Team Competes in Chulalongkorn International Business Case Competition

A team from Mahidol University international College (MUIC) participated in the Chulalongkorn International Business Case Competition (CIBCC) on May 23 – 28 at Marriott Courtyard Hotel, Phuket.

The team Alpha Advisory, especially trained and selected for the competition by MUIC Case Club, secured the 2nd Place within the division, falling short of the division winner by only 4 points.

The team’s members, consisting of four experienced case competitors and talented business students were as follows:

1.     Yanisa Sirisomboonchok (Major in Finance, minor in Business Economics)

2.     Narinya Yingcharoenthana (Major in International Business, minor in Tourism and Hospitality Management)

3.     Aileen Liu (Major in Finance, minor in Marketing)

4.     Dharmawat Jiraniti (Major in Finance, minor in Computer Sciences)

They were accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onnida Thongpravati, a faculty member of MUIC’s Business Administration Division.

Alpha Advisory competed with 19 renowned institutions worldwide in the five-day long event which was organized by BBA Case Club Chula, supported by Chulalongkorn Business School. Throughout the event was the combination of case cracking and activities that took place in Phuket’s top travel destinations. This provided an opportunity for international competitors to immerse themselves in Thai culture and authentic southern lifestyle.

This year, all participants got a chance to visit the Elephant Wildlife Sanctuary Phuket, the unique green-tourism destination where the guests learned about elephants and took part in bathing and feeding them. This has provided the students with insights into Phuket’s tourism economy that led to the most challenging ever case of “Phuket Net Zero” for this year’s competition.

The team worked tirelessly for 24 hours in solving the case and providing innovative solutions based on the case to make Phuket “Net Zero” within 2040. Within the time constraint, the team was able to derive comprehensive strategies and present them to the judges who hailed from various corporate firms. The team made an impressive performance in pitching their strategy.

Throughout this competition, the team had an invaluable opportunity to widen their perspective, learn from their fellow competitors, and gain friends along the way.

“This competition holds a special place in our hearts, as it has been an incredibly impactful experience. The satisfaction we derived from successfully solving complex cases, combined with the connections we formed with passionate individuals from around the world, have created lasting memories that will always hold a deep sentimental value for all of us,” according to Alpha Advisory.

MUIC Case Club said it would like to express its gratitude to Chulalongkorn Business Case Club for organizing this amazing competition for passionate young individuals to showcase their skills and talents, preparing them to be ready to join the ever-changing world.
